I Remember
I remember when I was a
little girl... My mother could do no wrong, She was my sunshine, my pearl,
Even my voice in a special song.
My heart was filled with a warm feeling
Whenever she was near. Her presence was almost healing She could
calm all of my fears.
As I grew older, our love changed. Although I grew more independent
Our closeness remained unchanged, And I still found her to be
resplendent.
We shared so many secrets and stories, Even our heart's desires
and dreams. We confided fears and worries Literally all of life's extremes.
My mom taught me oh, so very much In her exceedingly short
life. I miss her smile, her frown, her touch. The pain cuts through,
like a knife.
I feel pressure, my chest feels tight. All I have
now are my
memories. Then through the darkness shines a light! Around my heart
I feel a squeeze!
And I remember....
Yes, I remember...
I remember Mom...

There is nothing
more precious to a child than the love of their mother. This is
only intensified when the child is a woman. Only then can we
truly appreciate the mother/child bonds, the tugs on the heartstrings
or even the significance of the sacrifices our mothers made for us.
Sadly, too often our mothers are gone either before or shortly after
we learn the true depth of our mother's love.... as well as realizing
the intensity and importance of our own love and devotion towards our
mothers.
Some people lose
our mothers suddenly, with little or no warning. Other times we
nurse them and care for them as they cared for us when we were young,
and we watch them slowly leave us for what we must believe in our
hearts is a better place. It is at those times that we can
actually lose ourselves.... our will, our determination and even our
own desire to live. Even though we can rationalize that our moms
would want us to carry on, to be strong, even to be happy, it does not
take away the emptiness and pain.
For those times I
repeat a wisdom a special person shared with me...
You will always
remember the good thoughts, because she was such a joy to be with. She
is still with you, I am sure you can feel that sometimes. It is such a
warm feeling. See her smile and remember how she joked with you. Take
her hand and go on a journey with her, remembering only the good
times. Most of all, trust in your God.

If You Had All the World and It's Gold
(1916)
(Nine Bar Introduction)
I was wish-ing that I had the rich-es to buy all my dreams as I sat by
the fire,
What a life I would live, What could rich-es not give?
What more could a heart de-sire?
When my fond lit-tle moth-er drew close to my side.
There are some things, my child, You can't buy she re-plied:
(Chorus)
You can't buy the sun-shine at twi-light,
You can't buy the moon-light at dawn,
You can't buy your youth when you're grow-ing old,
Nor your life when the heart-beat is gone.
You can't buy your way in-to heav-en,
Tho wealth may hold pow-er un-told__
And when you lose your moth-er, you can't buy an-oth-er,
If you had all the world and its gold.
(chorus repeats)
